Full force ahead

Time flies when you are swamped with work. It’s half hour more before office hour ends and I’m just beginning to get a breather. March is gonna be a very busy month for me. The sales team here are picking up tenders like nobody’s business. To date, there are already 10 tenders to do and we are still in February....that's 10 tender documents waiting for me to read and prepare. Nia seng... On top of this, I have to train and monitor the new assistant who came onboard 1 week ago.

Tomorrow I have to attend a supplier's Loh Sang dinner together with my executive director at PJ Hilton. I hope she doesn't bail out on me...I hate attending this sort of events alone. Unfortunately this is part of my job and I'm expected to attend partners' luncheons, dinners, cocktails, launches, etc etc. I think my resolution of gaining weight will be fulfilled this year....but sad to say, I think it's my tummy area that's gonna get fatter instead.

Long holiday blues?

Why do we always feel lazy to work after coming back from long holidays? After a good long rest, shouldn't our body be energised enough to want to do work? A well rested brain should means we are ready to take on more challenges and are well prepared to handle daily stress. Unfortunately, this isn't the case as we all know. Don't talk about long holidays...even after the weekend, we get Monday blues. 2 days of rest and suddenly our body shuts down? I wonder why...

I'm swamped with work but I'm just too lazy to do much today. It doesn't help that I have not been feeling too well....been coughing since the CNY holidays. Lost my voice on the 3rd day of CNY. In fact, 5 family members have fallen sick...cold, cough, sore throat, headache, eye irritation...u name it, we got them. Now my eyelids feel real heavy and I just want to crawl into bed. I'm so tempted to leave the office early today. I feel so life-less, so un-interested in anything...even the thought of going for my usual Mon gym class (which I normally looks forward to) puts me off. My throat are so painful from the constant coughing..and I just don't feel like talking to anyone..not even my boss. In short, I just want to sit in my chair and rot.

Maybe a long rest isn't that good for our body...as far as work is concerned la....hehehe....

Gong Xi Fa Cai !

Happy Chinese New Year! 5 more days before we usher in the Year of the Pig ...oink....oink.

The long holiday weekend is coming soon. Everyone's busy getting ready for the festive season. Most major department stores and hypermarkets are packed with people doing last minute shopping. I should avoid all this areas at this time of the year but being a procrastinator, I have left grocery shopping til the last minute.

CNY has always been a quiet affair for me even back in hometown. It will be even more quiet this year as I will be celebrating it in KL this time. In a way, I'm actually a little relieved that I don't have to go through the hassles of balik kampung. I hate taking flights during festive season. The airport is always packed with people and a certain airline is bound to have its flights delayed.....as usual. It takes forever waiting for luggages to come out on the conveyor belt. And some kiasu people will rushed to get the trolleys the moment they reached the arrival hall and they would pushed their way thru to stand right in front of the conveyor belt. Thank god I don't have to witness all that this time around. Anyway, enough of that....

Celebrating CNY in KL is a totally different experience compared to celebrating in hometown. The city will be quiet and the roads clear of traffic jams. It's a wonderful time to be driving in KL. For once I can relax and take time out from serving drinks, entertaining visitors, etc etc. I'll be busy window shopping instead..hehehe.

Here's wishing all of you a Happy Chinese New Year in advance...

This isn't a compliment anymore la

Feeling a bit irritated this morning.

My colleague always like to say this to me ... "You nampak muda", "You nampak macam budak kecik", "You macam budak sekolah", "Badan you kecik la",....etc etc.

Ok, 1st time, I take it as compliment....2nd time, I take it as compliment also....BUT after hearing this type of comments for the umpteenth time, I'm beginning to feel damn tulan...since she is also small sized herself.

Maybe I need some wrinkles on my face...

I must have jinxed it

Just when I had written good things about my time at the gym, yesterday I was hit with another not so good news. It seems that there will be a change of instructor in my usual wed's combat class. Not so sure of this new instructor....one of my gym kaki had commented that she didn't enjoy his class last time at all.

Somehow I still prefer female instructors for Pump and Combat class...more ummphh and much more tougher. This sounds strange cos guys are supposed to be tougher. Out of so many combat classes with male replacement instructors, I found none satisfactory.

I hope there will not be any instructor change for my usual Pump class.

Don't get me wrong...I've nothing against any particular instructors. I know each of them have their own way of teaching the class. It's just that when I join a class, I tend to stick to the same instructor cos I feel comfortable with his/her style of teaching. It's just a matter of preferance, that's all.

If I was born in 1920's

Your 1920's Name is:
Aurora Ozella

My gym experience

It has been 9 months since I first joined the gym at IOI. Honestly, I didn't think I would have lasted this long. 9 continuous months...that is amazing. I had given myself 3 months..tops.

To begin with, I had no intention of joining any gym. Not knowing how to operate the exercise machines is one thing...my greatest fear is can I even lift the machines? Anyway, my friend Stephanie was kinda interested so she invited me to visit the promo booth at IOI before the gym officially opened. Now, my weakness has always been my difficulty to say NO...which is why I avoid going for anything that says FREE TRIAL cos I know I will end up signing for whatever program or package being offered. And indeed I signed up for minimum 3 months gym membership.

I have to admit..after almost a year, I'm enjoying my time at the gym. It helps that I have gym kakis there or else I won't be that motivated. I had started off religiously using the machines but now I go for their classes instead. My favorite is Body Combat. I just can't get enough of it but unfortunately I can only attend BC once a week as I have my sights set on other classes on other days. My first ever exercise VCD which I got years ago was on Aeroboxing...something very very similar to BC. Other classes which I go for are Body Pump, Body Balance, Body Jam and Yoga.

I push myself to do better for BP. This is my next favorite class, after BC. I'm proud to say I have managed to successfully increase the weights since my first class back in Sept 2006. Most of the time I look forward to this class but usually midway thru, I questioned myself why the hell am I doing this.

I haven't been consistently attending BJ but after last sunday's class, I can now officially say I SUCK at BJ. Good Lord, I'm so bad at this. I can't tell the difference between turning left or turning right...and in BJ, they turn a lot..I mean, a lot. Pening kepala...

My other intention of joining gym is to gain some body weight. It has been a yo yo attempt thus far. I gained some but I may have lost some too. This has always been a difficult task for me and it's so frustrating.

One area which I had not been successful is my abs. My bulging tummy is still there. I tried Pilate class for about 2 months but I've stopped going since. No offense but pilate is a tad too boring for me.

I enjoy going for the classes and I enjoy mixing with the regular members there. I have a lot of respect for the instructors there. Everything seem so effortless for them. Hmm...I wonder if I will ever get to their level of fitness...

My only negative gym experience has been getting knee pain twice over a period of 2 months. In fact, I had to take the whole December off to rest my knees. I have always tried to be careful when I do any exercise that involves the knees but I guess somewhere in between I must have not been careful enough. This whole experience has taught me to be appreciate my body more. I'm glad to say both my knees are now back to normal, well...99.5%. I hope to stay physically healthy for the rest of the year. That, by the way, is also my new year resolution.

Thanks to my fav GX instructors for making the classes fun.

This and that...

*************
Today there were 2 new colleagues in my office. We are expecting a few more newbies to come in in the next couple of months. Being polite, I tried to start some conversations with one of the newbie, Z. Now I'm amazed at people who can talk. I wish I'm that talkative. This lady can talk and talk and talk...she's like the energizer bunny who just keeps going and going. I had not expected this when I started my conversation with her. There she was..talking and talking...and I was trying not to be rude to cut her off. For a while there, I was worried I may not get my work done but I just dunno how to say NO. So, when she got a phone call, I immediately took that opportunity to escape...phew! But I must say she's a pretty nice person.

************
Colts WON! 29-17. Peyton Manning was voted MVP...no surprise there.

I woke up at 7am this morning to catch the game. I was contemplating watching the entire game on Astro but that would mean going to work late...very late. There I was thinking...should I, should I not? My office is pretty flexible considering that we usually work late or overnite during peak tender months...so my boss is not that hard on us if we come late once in a while. But I finally decided not to abuse the flexibility given to us...I can catch the replay of the game at 3.30am...hmm..that is, if I can stay awake during that hours. I left the game at half time.

************
I'm about to leave the office and Z is still talking ....amazing.

Super Showdown

Super Bowl XLI...that's Super Bowl 41. Colts vs Bears. Peyton Manning vs Rex Grossman. Indianapolis vs Chicago. 2 neigbouring states eyeing for the title in the biggest game of the American sports.

Yes, I watch NFL games....only if the Colts are playing, that is. What's not to like about the NFL...the joy of watching men in tights. I like this football than the other football. You know..the one where 11 men chase after a ball and yet sometimes after 90 mins, the game is still scoreless. What fun is that? I prefer to watch high scoring games.

Last year Coltswere predicted to go to the Super Bowl but got beaten in the semis by Steelers, the eventual Super Bowl champion. It seems that in this season, nothing could go wrong. Colts started off the season going 9-0 but then they stumbled midway of the season. They beat the New England patriots in a thrilling come from behind game to reach the Super Bowl. Now they get to face the Bears in the Feb 4th showdown in Dophins Stadium, Miami. Colts are favored to win this one and I hope they do. The city of Indianapolis doesn't have much to cheer about in sports in recent years. This is the first Super Bowl for Colts in their 19 years era in Indianapolis since their move from Baltimore.

Super Bowl XLI also features Lovie Smith vs Tony Dungy...the first 2 blacks to coach in the Super Bowl. It seems a lot of have been said regards this subject but really, the game is about 2 best teams left standing in the NFL. The game is about 2 teams whose hope of winning the title lies on the shoulder of their quarterbacks. One is a future Hall of Famer who had endured his fair share of criticisms...while the other has been constantly criticised by just about every NFL analyst. Oh, so much pressure...

This is gonna be fun. I hope Colts win this one. Judging from the way they came from behind to beat the Patriots, I'm pretty confident the boys in blue and white are ready to win the big one.

My prediction: Colts 21 Bears 7
