Inked again!

To ink or not to ink? I asked that question few years ago, not long after getting my first tattoo.  That phase went away shortly after that...then last year I started thinking of getting another tattoo.  I pretty much knew what design I wanted --> the meaning of my name.  It was just a matter of when would I get it....

Finally, after contacting a few tattoo artists, I settled on MaoTattoo Studio located at Sunway Metro, just next to Sunway Pyramid on Saturday.  I had liaised with the owner, Kelly, a week before going in and had shown her several font designs that I was interested in.

Kelly was busy on that day but she had asked that I dropped in for further discussion and to make appointment to get the tattoo.  After a short discussion with her, I decide to go ahead and get inked from her partner Irwin on that same day.  Why wait??!

The whole process took 30-45 mins with hardly any pain at all.  With my first tattoo, I had at least felt some pain towards the end.  In fact, this was such a breeze that I got sleepy waiting for Irwin to finish....ahaks.
Day 1 - still fresh from the 'oven' :-)
Every customer gets a small container of lotion and an aftercare instruction.  I was impressed.
Day 2 - looking good.  No pain, no soreness.
Free advertisement for the shop..haha.
Overall damage was RM250.  It would have been much cheaper had I done it in Sarawak but this kind of rate was expected in KL and I didn't want to wait much longer anyway.

To ink or not to ink again

...that is the question.

Thoughts of getting another tattoo are constantly playing in my mind. Help! So much so that it is interfering with my work. Talk about addiction eh? Perhaps it's just another phase, no? Mid life crisis??

My gym friend Kelly is getting a tattoo soon, this weekend I think, if I heard correctly. Since I got my tat, 3 friends wanted to get one too. I had no idea that I share this same interest with them. Amazing...

So, the question is still...to ink or not to ink again??

More tattoos?

Mr. Tattoo Artist aka Jeremy from Monkey Tattoo will be in Kuala Lumpur from 7-12 August and will be doing tattoos based on appointments.

Perhaps I can get him to do some touch up on mine.

Fulfilling an old wishlist

Anyone who happens to be in Kuching and wishes to get a tattoo can visit Monkey Tattoo located behind Electra House. At first glance, the owner Jeremy, looks more like a Dayak than a Chinese. I learned that this guy used to work with Ernesto Kalum of Borneo Headhunter Studio, a quite well-known tattoo artist. Monkey Tattoo looks a little messy though but as long as their work quality is good, I suppose customers won't mind.

Monkey Tattoo Studio

Jeremy uses both electric and traditional method in his tattooing. His worksmanship is pretty satisfactory and he makes sure each details are done accurately and finely. If you have no idea what pattern to go for, he can help sketch up a design. Being a local, his specialty is tribal designs.

Tattoo above appears larger than it really is. Notice the "A"? :-)

In keeping with tradition

During crazy times come crazy thoughts. Crazy thoughts may very well end up as crazy decision. I am very tempted to pay my homeboy a visit when I am back in town. Paying a visit doesn't necessarily mean I'll do it though....hmmm...who knows, maybe I'll end up with that crazy decision after all.

If I'm gonna get it, may as well get it from the best rite?

Check out his work at http://www.borneoheadhunter.com/.

What were you thinking? *eyes rolling*
